Abstract

Competitive pressure is a significant psychological factor affecting performance in judo tournaments. As a dynamic and high-stakes combat sport, judo demands both physical excellence and mental resilience. This paper explores the sources and psychological impacts of competitive pressure on judo athletes and examines strategies to manage it effectively. Key techniques include pre-competition routines, controlled breathing, visualization, emotional regulation, and focus training. Additionally, the role of coaches in supporting athletes’ psychological readiness is highlighted, along with methods for simulating pressure during training. The aim is to provide practical and evidence-based approaches that enable judokas to maintain optimal performance under pressure and recover constructively from setbacks. These insights contribute to the broader understanding of sports psychology in martial arts and support the holistic development of judo athletes.
