THE ECONOMIC ESSENCE, FORMS, AND CHARACTERISTICS OF FOREIGN INVESTMENT
Main Article Content
Abstract
Foreign investment plays a crucial role in the economic development of countries by providing financial resources, advanced technologies, and managerial expertise. The economic essence of foreign investment lies in the transfer of capital from foreign entities to the host country with the aim of generating profit and contributing to economic growth. Foreign investments contribute to the modernization of industries, improvement of infrastructure, increase in employment, and enhancement of competitiveness in the global market.
Foreign investment can take various forms, including foreign direct investment, portfolio investment, and other types of capital inflows such as loans and grants. Each form has its own characteristics, level of risk, and impact on the host economy. While foreign direct investment ensures long-term participation and control in business activities, portfolio investment is mainly focused on financial returns.
The specific features of foreign investment include its long-term orientation, transfer of technology and knowledge, exposure to economic and political risks, and its significant influence on macroeconomic stability. Effective regulation and favorable investment climate are essential for maximizing the benefits of foreign investment while minimizing potential risks.
